Relaxed summer wedding at Hush Venues…

I was really excited when Kayley and Chris first got in touch about photographing their wedding. I had come across Hush Venues just outside Norwich in Norfolk and thought it looked amazing. Being a complete country boy myself and a lover of the outdoors I definitely thrive taking pictures in beautiful locations. After meeting Kayley and Chris I knew it was going to be a goodun!

The ceremony took place at the Assembly House in Norwich, and what a beautiful place to get married. The Assembly House is a grand Georgian building right in the city centre. After the marriage in the Music Room the wedding party moved into the Grand Hall for a reception before everyone headed off to Hush Venues for the afternoon.

When heading to Hush Venues you really feel like you’re driving into the middle of nowhere, even though you’re only a few miles out of the city. After parking you’re met by a stretching¬†wildflower meadow with a path winding through the middle, to be fair it’s probably at it’s best a little earlier in the summer but it is beautiful nonetheless, it really adds to that feeling of wildness and space. There are some wonderful old trees about and a lovely little area of woodland to explore.

I love DIY weddings, I seem to shoot a lot of them. Hush venues is perfect for this. Kayley and Chris managed to create such a lovely chilled out festival kind of vibe for their wedding day. There was no sit down meal and no table plan, it was all about getting their nearest and dearest together to spend some quality time in the wonderful Norfolk countryside. They hired a lovely traditional canvas marquee from Bloomsfield Marquees, it’s so important getting that right, the tent fitted in perfectly to the landscape, I love all the old rope and canvas! Drinks were sorted by getting the Nags Head to set up their horsebox bar, ice cream from the luxury Norfolk Ice Creamiers (I just made that word up) – Ronaldos, and evening food (after an amazing afternoon buffet spread) in the form of excellent local hotdogs and homemade burgers from Claridges Catering. What could be more simple! Well nothing’s ever simple but when you’ve got 3 young kids organising a wedding doesn’t have to be massively over complicated.

What a beautiful day. You can see from the photos how happy and smiley Kayley and Chris are, their attitude and relaxed nature is definitely infectious!

So take a look at the pictures. I wish I could have camped out there, as some people did. But alas, maybe next time. I’m looking forward to returning to Hush Venues later this year. Until then…
