I love the coast, as you may be able to tell… perhaps everyone does. It’s probably something about growing up in the UK, everywhere is relatively near the coast (apart from the midlands – sorry guys!). Summer holidays for us were always by the sea: Suffolk and Norfolk, obviously, Cornwall and Devon were big faves, but also further north, Wales, Yorkshire, even Scotland. We had beach holidays just about everywhere (without ever leaving these shore, that is…). So it’s always great having to go and spend a few hours by the beach to take photos… And Dunwich is a very special place, for those of you that don’t know it was once a thriving sea port, one of the most important towns in East Anglia, but that history has long since been washed under the waves, it’s tiny now, just a small collection of houses, a cafe, a pub and a museum. Apparently on moonlit nights you can still hear the bell tolling from under the sea! Anyway, it’s a lovely beach with not just a little nostalgia for the fishing heritage of the Suffolk coast.
I love doing engagement shoots, not only because I get to spend some time in some beautiful places, but because I get to spend more time with my amazing clients (sorry cheesy I know). I actually mean this, I always come away from meeting people thinking how lucky I am to consistently work with such great people. It’s always going to be pretty good really, I mean photographing people in love, what do you expect. And Joe is an old school friend of mine as well so that made it doubly good… Can’t wait to the wedding now next summer!
